Red Roses V Ireland 11.04.2026 Twickenham

Image
England Red Roses Vs Ireland - 6 nations - Twickenham - 11.04.2026. Day out to Ladies rugby today, up and put at 10.15 to Leighton Buzzard train station, with our 2 for 1 rail cards cost us £30 return top Euston plus tap in and out of tubes, so not too bad, once we arrived at Euston we had to get the northern line to Waterloo then Waterloo to Twickenham. We got to the ground around 13.15, grabbed a pint each which come to £17 and 2 spicy chilli pasties which come to £18 !! I do hate paying the prices at stadiums but for some reason I am never very organised with the food and drink when we go to events, not sure why considering I’m mega organised the rest of time. Good seats at the ground, our tickets cost £30 each which i thought was pretty good. The game was brilliant (for England) but not so good for Chris and Ireland, England won 33-12. We were pretty impressed with all the organisation around Twickenham, everything was prepared and no real delays bar of course the amount of p...

London day trip 03.04.26, The Book of Mormon Theatre Show

03.04.26 - Day trip to London to see The Book Of Mormon. Not the easiest trip to London, trains from Leighton Buzzard to London Euston weren't running all bank holiday weekend due to works on the track so all routes closed, meaning we had to go from Aylesbury, however due to works there as well we would of had to change at Princes Risborough, I hate having to change so found it easier just to drive to Princes Risborough and get the train from there. We got the 10.27am Train with our 2 for 1 travel card meaning a return for us both was only £38 instead of £46 so that was a good saving and glad we got our travel cards now for the year, they cost £30 for the year but you soon pay that back with the savings you make.  We got into London Marylebone at 11.20, station was really busy due to the closure at Euston but think we were lucky we were there on the Friday and not over the weekend where i think it will be heaving!  Straight down to the underground & caught the Bakerl...

Belfast, Northern Ireland 28.02.26

Travel Day - Saturday 28.02.2026 to Belfast Quick weekend trip to Belfast this weekend, early morning flight to Belfast from London Luton today, this time we parked at the Airport parkway and got the Dart to the airport which was actually really easy and cheap! just £6.10 to park and £9 return on the dart, so cheaper than parking in the airport parking. We arrived in Belfast at about 08.15, and jumped on the Bus to the city centre. We got to our Hotel (Ibis budget hotel) , dropped our bags and went out as it was too early to check in at that time. The weather was blue skies and sunny so we decided to go straight to the titanic museum and get that done today rather than rushing to do it in the morning. We walked into the centre and again jumped on the bus, tickets were £5 each and lasted all day which was handy as we then used that for the other plans we had which was going to the footie. The tour was really interesting, so much to see and so much to read but was well worth it, ce...

Bratislava, Slovakia & Budapest, Hungry 06.02.26

Travel day, Friday 06.02.2026 Bratislava, Slovakia. Early flight from London Luton, 6am arrival at 09.20. Got the bus to Bratislava train station, which was about 25 min drive costing 80p, what a bargain! Nice 20 min walk into the old town, checked into hotel APLEND city around 10.45, luckily our room was ready so we got in, freshened up and back out to explore for the rest of the day. We had a butchers around the old town which was beautiful, lovely old buildings, churches, a lot of different embassies, and was a fascinating walk around. We headed towards Bratislava castle, walking by the UFO Bridge on the way. It was a bit of an unnecessary expense to go up (€12.50) and then drinks on top so we didn't bother, maybe if we go back it would be something to try. Walking up a load of stairs to get to the castle was worth it as the views over the city were fab!  On our way back of course we had to find the Irish bar so had a couple of drinks in there before heading back to the h...

Sofia, Bulgaria 12.12.25.

Travel Day, Sofia, Bulgaria - Friday 12.12.25. Alarm went off at 04.30 this morning, picked up Jess and Chris from Dunstable on our way to the airport, nice brekkie before we boarded the plane, taking off at 08.25. Flight was on time and smooth, bit of a bumpy landing, immigration took a little while but wasn’t too awful considering the new changes with the new entry system of taking fingerprints. Once through we were trying to find the shuttle bus to terminal 2 so we could get the metro into the city but we couldn’t work out where it picked us up. Thanks to ChatGPT we did manage to get on the public bus (no.84) into the centre which only cost 70p which was handy, took around 25 mins due to a bit of traffic, from the bus stop it took us about 10 mins to walk to the hotel which wasn’t too bad. As we got there around 15.30/16.00 we managed to check straight in and get into our rooms, was a bit of an odd hotel, the decor was random but for the few nights we were there it was fine, e...
