I was very nervous to book my first ever solo trip so I thought I'd go easy on myself and book a kind of a day trip. I travelled up to Hull stayed overnight there, I found a nice hotel near the dock, it was at a pub called The Whittington and Cat, only cost me £60 which was perfect for what i needed, the room was nice, comfy bed and perfect just for night, before going to the docks I had a lot of time to kill so I drove to the centre which was more or less over the road in hindsight I could have just walked over there but anyway drove and got parked in the multistorey, had lunch at Brewdog Hull and a drink before driving the 10mins down to the dock to get parked, I did get it all wrong thinking I had to pay when I got back and not before meaning when I returned I had a £60 fine on my car but lesson learnt.
Ferry was leaving at 8pm so I got to the terminal in plenty of time, checking in and waiting to board around 5pm, now I'm ready to get the ferry over to Amsterdam, the ferry was overnight so and docked in at Amsterdam at 7am, the ferry was pretty nice as ferries go, I sat up in the bar for an hour or so having a beer with a lorry driver from Switzerland that I was talking to which was nice, also there was a singer on in the bar for a little while so some entertainment was nice as well, helped the evening pass, went to bed around 10pm and watched TV for a little while, the journey was a little rough but surprisingly I didn't feel ill at all so that was a bonus. Disembarked the ferry around 9am ish and onto a coach that took everyone into the city. The coach drops you outside just eat HQ so is a little walk into the centre, think it took me around 30mins to walk to Van Gough museum.
To get there I put on Google maps & put in where I wanted to visit and boom ! 💥 I was off ... went to Brewdog Amsterdam first to get my stamp and a quick drink, walked to Van Gough museum, just looked around outside as i was conscious of time and then onto Heineken, the brewery tour was good, I really enjoyed that and was affordable price as well, only £29 included the tour and about 4 beers in the end including the roof top bar as well. I then walked back to pick up point, had a subway and back on the coach to go back to the ferry, amazing experience and gained confidence.
In hindsight I think i could have explored a little more and had something traditional food wise but for a 1st trip it was just perfect.
