Combe Martin, Devon - UK
Travel Day (24th July 2024)
Time to travel down to see one of my best friends today, have been looking forward to it for ages, always love spending time with Abi, Ed and now my new lil bestie Ronnie.
Left home around half 7 in the morning, trying to beat traffic and without getting stuck in any traffic, luckily it was a good journey, only traffic i really encountered was actually in MK.
Got to Abi’s about half 11 so was more or less dead 4 hours with a quick wee break about an hr from her house.
Chilled out for a bit when I got there, had a catch up then walked down to the beach in Combe Martin, love that little beach. The tide was out so we enjoyed a nice walk towards the sea with Ronnie. Was really funny as he decided to take his shes and socks off but then didn't want to put his foot down so stood like a flamingo for about 5 mins until he realised it was ok and wouldn’t hurt, he was soon off, walking through the little streams where the sea had gone out.
Of course we wasn’t actually prepared for a beach day so Abi & I got soaked feet as we just had our trainers on trying to avoid all the water without success! Ronnie was also soaked as kept bending down in the water meaning he got a wet bum, we walked back to the house to dry off and chill out ready for ed to get home from work. We had a lovely evening just chatting away.
Day 2 (Thursday 25th July)
Chilled morning, getting Ronnie his brekkie and of course watching Andy, dinosaur man on TV who he absolutely loves !
At about half 11 i went off to explore, ended up driving into Exeter, mainly to go to Brewdog and get my stamp sorted which was nice, had a couple of pints and some lunch before driving back.
Stopped at a lovely pub on the way back for a quick toilet stop, had a lovely river right next to it.
Got back to Abi’s around 3pm and we then went out for a walk with Ronnie who insisted on taking his trike with him, of course once we got to the bridge and started throwing rocks into the river he certainly didnt want to go back on his trike. However was a lovely walk.
Ed got back later on, we had a lovely dinner before heading off to bed, ready for another day.
Day 3 (Friday 26th July)
Ed had the day off today so we all chilled with some brekkie in the morning watching….. Andy!
Ed took Ronnie out with him to his parent house for the day, Abi and I went into Barnstable, Abi had an appointment to attend so whilst she was there i had a walk around the shops before ending up in the pub for a drink whilst i waited for her, is a lovely little town to walk around, especially as it was a lovely sunny day as well. I seemed to have made a friend whilst I was sat outside the pub as well. A lovely old gentleman sat with me and started chatting away. Saved by the bell though as Abi finished not long after. We had a walk round to find somewhere nice to eat for lunch and found this lovely little place.
Lunch was lovely and I would certainly go back there again. Once we finished we made our way back home, stopping at Tesco on the way to grab supplies for dinner. I made a creamy chicken and chorizo pasta bake for dinner that evening and we watch the Olympic opening ceremony in France which was very weird to say the least.
Day 4 (Saturday 27th July)
Family day out today ;) We went off to Lynton and Lydmouth for the day, left house around half 10, got parked and walked to the cable car/ track, we took the trip down to the bottom, was about £3.50 per adut one way and nothing for Ronnie. Certainly worth doing.
We had a lovely walk round, looking in all the little shops, I brought Ronnie a little football he wanted before we walked over the little bridge and had a drink at the pub. Ronnie bless him grabbed my hand and walked me round the boats and along the stony path by the sea before we headed back to play more football. We were all getting hungry so looked for somewhere to have lunch and decided on fish and chips which is a must when in Devon!
Once we were done there we headed off to another little town called Dunster, that was lovely, we ended up going to a nice tea room, Abi & Ed had tea with a scone and just had a coffee.
Once we got back home we chilled for a little while before heading to the beach to have a sit in the sun and a cold beer.
After a busy day we walked back home and relaxed, we had a lovely day out and I really enjoyed it. It was just so nice spending time with such good friends, I can’t wait to go back down again to see them all. For now it’s time for an early night ready for the trip home tomorrow.
Day 5 (Sunday 28th July)
I have had such an awesome time with these guys and I do really love Devon, it's such a nice place to go. Unfortunately it's now time to go home. I left early, again to try to beat the traffic home and give me time to relax before going back to work tomorrow. Left about half 8 and got home around half 12 so again had a really good run home, taking 4 hrs. Once home was unpacked and had an afternoon nap before sorting dinner and things ready for work.
